Here are some things we've found helpful on our own journey of raising puppies.

This gated pen is a wonderful way to ensure your puppy stays safe and contained, especially during housebreaking! We have the 32" and 40" pens for our puppies, but this comes in a variety of heights and sizes. It's also the perfect safety pen to use on camping trips if you plan on tackling the great outdoors with your pup!

Washable pee pads are a must-have for our litters. These non-slip pads stay put, are super absorbent, and machine washable, making for easier cleanup when housebreaking. We keep ours under our playpen, but you can place them just about anywhere to make puppy cleanup a breeze!

We are huge fans of crate training. Do you have to? No. Should you? That's totally up to you. But we can tell you crate training is not only an amazing way to housebreak your puppy, it also provides your adult dog a place to call their own, and provides them with a safe space they'll come to love and look at as their own personal retreat. We suggest one of two options based on the adult size of your dog.
Helpful hint: when crate training/housebreaking your puppy, you may need to make the crate smaller by inserting a divider. Your puppy needs only enough room to stand up and turn around in his crate until he's mastered his or her bladder!

A lot of clients tell us their puppy was incredibly easy to housebreak, and these alfalfa pellets play a successful role. When our pups reach about six weeks old, we begin placing a tray of alfafa pellets in their pen. The pellets smell like real grass, and instinctively the dogs know to do their business in the pellet tray. This helps with the transition to using outdoor grass when they're old enough to potty outside after their first shots. Having a tray of alfalfa pellets in your home pen could be a wonderful asset to your own housebreaking journey since that's what the puppies are used to while they're in our care.

If you're interested in using alfalfa pellets, we highly suggest using this tray. It's easy for the pups to get in and out of, and is incredibly easy to clean.
Helpful hint: our clients have also had a lot of success using disposable puppy pads to housebreak. Remember that little puppies like to tear the pads to shreds, so if you go this route we highly suggest a puppy pad mesh holder like this one!

A soft-sided pet carrier is an amazing accessory if you plan on traveling with your young pup, particularly on an airplane. If you're flying to meet your new puppy and take them home, having this TSA approved bag on hand will make the journey that much better for all of you!

Little puppies come with little puppy teeth! Help them teethe with something healthy and fun to chew on!

All our dogs, young and old, absolutely love these crinkly squeaky toys. They're durable and stand up to tough play, and they're stuffing free so you don't have to worry about your pup ingesting any cotton (or cleaning it up from the living room floor if you're dog happens to ravage it!)

We've been raising aussies and doodles for years, and this bed is by far the greatest on the market. It's fully washable, and more importantly - the only bed we've found to be indestructible. An array of sizes, styles and accessories are available.

Aussiedoodles are incredibly smart. They love to learn, are easy to train, and they catch on quickly. And just like any dog, they crave structure, which is why we love partnering with Baxter & Bella's Online Puppy School. The Bella & Baxter method includes a series of instructional videos to help you train your new puppy in the comfort of your own home, and on your own time. They even priovide live help when you need it!
